Thomas Christiansen is expected to ring the changes as Leeds United prepare to face Burnley in the League Cup on Tuesday.

The Elland Road boss could change virtually the entire team that lost at Millwall on Saturday as he gives well-earned breathers to the players responsible for the team's place at the Championship summit.

This will mean that the likes of league ever-presents Eunan O'Kane, Kalvin Phillips, Luke Ayling, Pablo Hernandez and Felix Wiedwald could be omitted as well as Vurnon Anita, Samuel Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

Christiansen has already confirmed that Pontus Jansson will miss the Burnley match with a minor injury he sustained at the New Den.

A good display against Premier League opposition would be the perfect tonic for Leeds before their next Championship game against Ipswich at Elland Road on Saturday.

It’s also a great opportunity to give some players on the fringes of the first team some much-needed game time.

1. Stuart Dallas

It is no exaggeration to state that Dallas is fighting for his Leeds career. Indeed, those are his own words after a summer of massive upheaval in which a string of 2016-17 mainstays departed and 16 new signings arrived.

The winger, who joined Leeds from Brentford in the summer of 2015, is locked in a fierce battle for one of the attacking midfield slots in Thomas Christiansen's high-flying side, along with Samuel Saiz, Ezgjan Alioksi, Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko.

Dallas has been involved in all nine of Leeds' matches this season but his only two starts have come in the League Cup.

All seven of his league appearances have been as a substitute, although he has demonstrated his clinical touch with two goals.

The Northern Ireland international, 26, appeared to have won the new manager over when he signed a new three-year contract at the end of August but that will mean little if he continues to watch from the sidelines.

2. Pawel Cibicki

Capped by Sweden at Under-21 level, Cibicki was widely regarded as a shrewd signing when he was one of three attackers brought into the club by Victor Orta and company in the immediate wake of Chris Wood's exit.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga has slotted straight into the first team, Jay-Roy Grot has been given the deputy centre-forward role, but it is not yet clear where Cibicki fits in.

The 23-year-old is finally expected to make his debut in a Leeds shirt against Burnley after being an unused substitute in wins against Burton and Birmingham, and the defeat at Millwall.

A versatile forward who claims he can play any of the four main attacking roles, Cibicki had a fine track record as a creator and scorer at Malmo before his £1.5million transfer.

3. Jay-Roy Grot

Blessed with the physique of a super middleweight, Grot is going to send tremors through a few defences this season based on his power alone.

But does the 19-year-old, who signed in late August from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen for £750,000, have the touch and finesse to go with it?

That is the question for the Leeds faithful, who have delivered mixed reviews of the teenager's substitute appearances to date.

Leeds haven't had any problems scoring goals this season, but last season under Monk demonstrated the need for many goal weapons - rather than just one or two - during a marathon Championship campaign.
