Signing Odsonne Edouard to a new contract would be the "biggest signing" Celtic could make ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Tottenham and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the Frenchman is beginning to realise his true value after two-and-a-half years at Parkhead.

Robinson says that a new deal for Edouard would be "hugely important" but that the Bhoys may not be able to give him the money that he feels he deserves.

Robinson told Football Insider: "I'm not sure he realises his time is up, he probably just realised his value.

"If other clubs are talking to his agent or other clubs have had his head turned at times, then you, as a player, he realises there's a different value to him.

"No disrespect to Celtic or anyone like that but they may not be able to match the wages he's offered elsewhere. As well as he's done for Celtic, it'd be hugely, hugely important for Celtic to tie him down.

"If they could tie him down to a new contract it would be the biggest signing they could make this summer."

Edouard has scored 59 goals in 123 appearances for the Hoops to date, with 26 of those strikes coming this season.

His current contract at Celtic Park expires in 2022.
