Blackburn Rovers are keeping close tabs on midfielder Joe Sbarra after his Solihull Moors exit, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club have been watching Sbarra closely and are now plotting a contract offer amid interest from rival EFL clubs.

The 25-year-old midfielder scored three goals in 24 appearances for the National League sid,e who missed out on promotion after losing the play-off final on penalties against Bromley.

His contract expired following the end of the season, which will allow the Championship side to swoop for free.

Sbarra was on the books at Solihull for four years following his arrival from Burton Albion in 2020, making 132 league appearances and scoring 32 goals.

Two of the midfielder's three goals this season came in the play-offs as he looked to fire his side to promotion to League Two.

Blackburn, meanwhile, finished 19th in the Championship after a relegation scare, with just two points separating them from the bottom four.

Financial issues at the club have surfaced after their latest accounts showed pre-tax losses of £20.9million and a wage-to-turnover ratio of 123 per cent.

With other clubs in the EFL set to rival their transfer push for Sbarra, Blackburn are plotting a contract offer for the free agent.
