Boateng a 'world-renowned' choice for Tottenham after Athletic update - Campbell
Jerome Boateng would be a “great choice” for Tottenham this summer given his experience and standing in world football, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 32-year-old could be offered a short-term deal by the north London club.
Boateng is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Bayern Munich at the end of last month.
The Athletic claimed on July 20th that a Tottenham move for the 76-times Germany international would “make a lot of sense”.
Spurs are already closing in on the signing of two centre-halves in Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cristian Romero.
But, if Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez leave the club may look to sign a third centre-half, especially if Nuno Espirito Santo opts to play a back-five next season.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Boateng would be a good signing, Campbell said: “On a free transfer, he could be a great choice.
“I’m not sure how much is left in the tank and he has had his fair share of injury problems so if it was to happen I think it would be on a short-term deal.
“He would definitely be a good choice though because of his experience. He is a world-renowned name. We have seen him play in the biggest games in world football and he has won just about everything.
“Bayern did not have the best season in the Champions League last year but that was more down to losing Lewandowski.”
