Celtic jet out on Euro transfer mission for 13-goal hitman as contract talks stall – report
Celtic have been scouting Celta Vigo striker Borja Iglesias with an eye on a summer move, according to a report.
Spanish outlet El Periodico claim that Celtic have been joined by some English Championship clubs along with top-flight outfit Swansea.
The striker is currently on loan at Real Zaragoza until the end of the season but they do not have a purchase option as part of the loan deal.
It is also said that if Zaragoza stay in the second flight – as is looking likely, with the team in 11th – then Iglesias will not stay there.
Iglesias is out of contract in the summer and talks for an extension to his contract has stalled which could open the door for Celtic to make a move.
He has scored 13 goals this season after really making his mark for Celta Vigo B last season when he scored 32 goals in 37 games.
Football Insider verdict:
Borja Iglesias has attracted attention from a number of clubs, including Premier League Swansea, after his contract situation looks like he could be moving this summer. The report claims that have been scouting the player regularly although no offers have been received for him. At 25 and playing in the Spanish Segunda, it would appear a strange move, although he was prolific last season for Celta Vigo B. If Celtic do sell Moussa Dembele in the summer, Celtic fans will be hoping for a bigger name than this.
