Alex Scott has sent a message to Tottenham starlet Alfie Devine on social media after he sealed a permanent move to Preston North End.

Devine enjoyed a successful loan spell with Championship club Preston last season and emerged onto their radar again this summer.

Celtic and Wolves were among his suitors, but the 21-year-old has joined North End for a club-record fee believed to be in the region of £6million.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is in the market to shake up his midfield options this summer after the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

Bournemouth star Scott has been linked with a move to the North London outfit, and he took to Instagram to wish Devine well on Tuesday night.

Scott wrote: "Love it" with a white heart emoji in response to Devine's post announcing his return to Deepdale, with the pair known to be close friends from their time playing together in the England youth teams.

Alex Scott has a lifelong connection to Spurs and is a reported transfer target

Scott was born in Guernsey but grew up as a Tottenham fan, owing to his father's own lifelong support of the club.

He scored his maiden Premier League goal for the Cherries against Spurs in 2024, and late spoke about why he likes the club, saying: "My dad, big Spurs fan. So I think that’s just where it comes from, no other reason really, literally just my dad. And then I fell in love with Tottenham as a kid. So yeah, they’re my club!

“Yeah, I scored my first Premier League goal at Tottenham. That was crazy. I was on the bench as well, I was a bit disappointed I didn’t start. I then came on, scored my first goal and then scored another as well but that got disallowed. I think it was just the perfect place to score my first-ever goal.”

Scott has been a long-term target for the North London club, with rumours still rife over a move for his services this summer.

He could well arrive at Tottenham soon, with some fans taking his message to Devine as a possible hint at a move.

Sources: Bournemouth make new Alex Scott plan as Man United alerted to release clause

Who else has Scott been linked to recently?

Man United are believed to be keen on Scott to bolster their own midfield options ahead of next term.

Casemiro's departure has seen them enter the market for an addition, while Manuel Ugarte's long-term injury has amplified the need for numerous new signings.

Despite their interest, sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Bournemouth want to tie Scott down to a new contract this summer.

The fresh terms are likely to include a release clause, if he does agree to sign, meaning Spurs and United could still snap him up this summer.
