Bournemouth could be 'forced' to sack Marco Rose after what they saw vs Chelsea

Published on:

Bournemouth could be forced to pull the trigger on Marco Rose after a nightmare start to their Premier League season.

The Cherries are still winless after six games, having picked up just three points in that time, and questions are being asked of the boss despite a tough run of fixtures.

A 5-1 defeat against Chelsea last time out has set alarm bells ringing, and concerns about their league position after a slow start have begun to stack up behind the scenes.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rose is bound to face questions over his position as no wins from six league games is simply not good enough.

Regardless of performances on the pitch and the positive signs to be taken from their games, any manager in the league would be under pressure if they went six games without a win.

Rose is believed to be no exception, and there is an expectation for results to improve in their upcoming games against Sunderland, Man United and Aston Villa.

Could Marco Rose be sacked by Bournemouth?

Following Andoni Iraola's departure and ultimate decision to join Liverpool in the summer, Bournemouth were faced with a daunting task when it came to landing his replacement.

Rose was quickly identified as their top target, and the Cherries moved quickly to get their man as they put plans in place for the post-Iraola era.

However, while their start to their Europa League campaign has been a success, there are concerns about their league performances which could see the boss come under pressure.

"Nobody is talking about this, but Bournemouth have quietly had a terrible start to the season," Brown told Football Insider.

"Everybody speaks about how well they've been run, the progress they've made getting up into the Premier League and then establishing themselves, getting into Europe.

"They had a winning start in the Europa League which is all anyone could really ask for, but their Premier League form has got to be a concern.

"Six games, no wins, sitting down the bottom of the league table, any manager in that position would be having seious questions asked of them and Rose should be no different.

"If this continues, Bournemouth will be forced to make a decision, because you have got to win games in the Premier League regardless of what the reasons might be.

"They've faced some tough sides; Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, but every team is going to have to play against them at some stage.

"The difficult thing as well is, when you're not winning games and you're getting dragged down the league table, it can be very difficult to get a handle on that and start to change things.

"So if that is the case, if Bournemouth continue to struggle, then there might have to be a decision made about the manager's future."

What other issues could Bournemouth face this season?

Managerial issues are not the only concern at the Vitality Stadium this season, as Bournemouth remain at risk of losing some of their best players to Premier League rivals.

The Cherries are no strangers to losing players, having allowed some big names to leave for huge fees in the last 12 months, but they could be put in a difficult position again.

Brown told Football Insider that Alex Scott is set to attract offers from top clubs in the January transfer window, with Bournemouth determined to keep hold of him.

Bournemouth are prepared to do everything in their power to keep Scott after rejecting formal offers from Chelsea during the summer, but may have their resolve tested.

Losing Scott would be a significant blow, especially if their downturn in results continues, as Rose will want to ensure his best players remain at the club.
