Bournemouth manager Marco Rose has spoken out for the first time since replacing Andoni Iraola at the Vitality Stadium.

Rose has most recently been manager of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, where he was sacked in March 2025.

The German won the DFB Pokal during his time at Leipzig, and has also led RB Salzburg to major honours in Austria.

Succeeding Iraola at Bournemouth though could be Rose’s toughest challenge yet, after the Spaniard led the Cherries into Europe for the very first time in their history this season with a sixth-placed Premier League finish.

Bournemouth had been progressively getting better and climbing the Premier League table under Iraola, who will be an opponent of Rose’ next season after replacing Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Marco Rose praised for Bournemouth interview

Now Iraola has been officially confirmed as Liverpool boss, Bournemouth released their first interview with Rose as their manager at their training ground.

Bournemouth captioned the video on their Instagram, “Marco knows our past. Now he’s building for our future.”

Rose talked about what he had heard about Bournemouth’s history with archive footage of the club training on park pitches and playing in League One and Two.

Bournemouth stars Evanilson, Lewis Cook and Djordje Petrovic all liked the post, whilst fans were left impressed with Rose’s knowledge of the club.

Marco Rose faces double Bournemouth blow

Rose may run into some issues early into his Bournemouth tenure as the Cherries prepare to compete in the Europa League.

The club’s Vitality Stadium does not meet UEFA requirements to host European matches, and it is currently unclear whether their Europa League games will need to be played elsewhere.

Keith Wyness: Bournemouth in 'race against time' to meet Uefa requirements over Vitality Stadium upgrades

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider that UEFA will do everything they can to help Bournemouth, and the club will know what they will have to do to meet media and broadcasting requirements.

Meanwhile in the transfer market, Rose could lose one of his star players, Eli Junior Kroupi this summer amid interest from Arsenal.

Kroupi scored 13 Premier League goals this season, and Rose would not be willing to lose the 19-year-old early into his tenure at Bournemouth.
