Chelsea have now emerged as the odds-on favourites to win the race for Bournemouth star Alex Scott this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder rejected a new contract at the Cherries this summer, which has put a number of clubs on alert.

Scott has emerged as one of the Premier League’s rising stars after he helped guide Bournemouth to Europa League qualification last season.

Now, one UK bookmaker believes it is increasingly likely that Chelsea will win the race for the youngster, with the odds on him backing a move to Stamford Bridge this summer being slashed down to 10/11.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all also been reportedly interested in the England Under-21 international this transfer window.

However, Xabi Alonso’s side may now be about to win the race for his signature.

How good is Alex Scott?

Scott, like many of Bournemouth’s stars, had an outstanding 2025-26 campaign.

The midfielder was key to the Cherries’ sixth-place finish in the Premier League, in which they were 90 minutes from qualifying from the Champions League.

This form saw him join England’s senior squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup as Thomas Tuchel assessed the youngster.

Looking at his stats on Fotmob on 1 August from last season, it is no wonder there is so much hype around Scott.

Per 90 minutes, he was averaging 0.09 goals, a 0.12 xG, 1.39 shots, 0.91 successful dribbles, a 55.8 per cent dribble success rate, 1.89 fouls won and 12.18 defensive contributions in the Premier League.

Therefore, Scott could prove to be a massive asset for Alonso during the 2026-27 campaign.

How does Scott compare to Chelsea’s current midfielders?

Compared to Chelsea’s star from last season, Scott had a far better season.

The Bournemouth player boasts better stats, even when compared to the likes of Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuador international averaged 0.10 goals, a 0.05 xG, 0.87 shots, 0.48 successful dribbles, a 53.6 per cent dribble success rate, 1.77 fouls won and 11.76 defensive contributions per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

Therefore, if Scott does sign for Chelsea, there is no doubt that he would become an instant first-teamer under Alonso.

However, it remains to be seen if the Blues can get a deal done for the midfielder in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
