Brad Friedel has highlighted the quality of Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen after his performance against Chelsea and described him as “outstanding”.
The 24-year-old played a starring role on Wednesday night as Spurs defeated their London rivals 2-0 in the Premier League.
Eriksen collected two assists as he linked up twice with Dele Alli for his decisive headed goals.
The north London club produced a great team performance to earn the three points and they are now seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea in third.
Ex-Spurs goalkeeper Friedel revealed he was particularly impressed with the performance of Eriksen on Wednesday and feels he is outstanding when given room on the pitch.
“I thought Christian Eriksen was very good (against Chelsea) and if you don’t pressure him and make him hurry his passes, then he is outstanding,” Friedel told talkSPORT.
Eriksen has been in sensational form for Spurs this season and has been in good touch in front of goal.
The 24-year-old has made 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying eight assists.
The Denmark international has been one of the club’s most influential players in recent seasons and has continued that role this term.
He was given too much space against Chelsea and he punished them with two delightful crosses for team-mate Alli.
Eriksen will hope to continue his good run of form and they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup third-round on Sunday, before resuming their league campaign with a home match against West Brom.
