Brighton signed Chema from Stuttgart on transfer deadline day in a deal worth around £20million, just a year after he left Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old thrived in the Bundesliga, and already appears to have taken to the Premier League excellently.
The Spain youth international shares a similar physical profile to Barcelona and former Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, leading to comparisons between the pair.

Chema's first Brighton goal has come against the Premier League champions, but he will score few easier for his new team.
The 21-year-old was left almost completely unchallenged at the back post by Arsenal, towering over the late jumping Riccardo Calafiori to head in Pascal Gross' corner.
But the midfielder's contribution on Saturday went far beyond just his goal. Chema was an anchor in the midfield for Brighton, constantly spreading play and using his huge frame to cut out Arsenal attacks.
The Spaniard made five line-breaking passes, five passes into the final third and was successful with his only attempted long ball.
Defensively, he was excellent, making two interceptions and seven recoveries - the joint-most of any outfield player on the pitch - while also winning 100 per cent of his aerial duels (five).
While the player himself has dismissed Rodri comparisons for now, there is an undeniable likeness between the two.
If Chema can get to a similar level, he will be in demand across the Premier League and Europe.
What has Chema said about Rodri comparisons?
In some sense, Chema is ahead of the schedule that Rodri's career has followed.
The Ballon d'Or winner returned to Atletico Madrid from Villarreal when he was 21, and joined the Premier League at the age of 23.
There is no guarantee Chema will get even close to the levels Rodri would go on to perform at, however.
"Those comparisons come from you guys [journalists]," he told The Athletic in April when asked about the link. "They’re more about our physical profile because he’s still miles ahead. Hopefully, one day I can reach his level. They don’t affect me at all.
"It would be an honour to speak to him and tell him how much I admire him. From what I’ve read, he’s an exceptional person.
"I see myself as cheerful, humble, and someone who gets on well with everyone. I don’t like footballer stereotypes. Some people like that sort of thing, and that’s fine, but I’m more low-key.”
