Sources: Torino open talks to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson
Torino have opened talks to sign Brighton and Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson, sources have told Football Insider.
The Italian side are hopeful of reaching an agreement for the 21-year-old striker this summer transfer window.
Brighton are willing to listen to offers for the Republic of Ireland international, who has been out of the club’s first-team plans for the past season and a half.
Ferguson is no stranger to the Serie A, and spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Roma, where he played 22 games in all competitions and scored five goals.
However, an ankle injury in January ruled him out for the remainder of the season, with the striker being forced to have surgery.
Despite still being sidelined until October, Torino are still looking to sign Ferguson this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Was Evan Ferguson good in the Serie A?
Despite his limited goals in the Italian top-flight, when Ferguson was given minutes, he was quite good at Roma.
In fact, his injury came right when the striker was beginning to hit form in Italy, as he netted four goals in his final eight games in all competitions.
According to Fotmob on 5 August, Ferguson managed to produce some decent stats in the Serie A last season.
Per 90 minutes, he was averaging 0.35 goals, a 0.30 xG, 3.13 shots, 1.74 shots on target, 0.23 assists, a 0.11 xA and 1.74 chances created.
Therefore, if he is given a run of consistent starts in the Serie A, he could be a massive hit at Torino if the club is able to get a deal over the line.
Brighton are in need of a new striker this summer
If Ferguson is to leave Brighton this summer, then the club will be in desperate need of a new striker.
The 21-year-old’s departure could leave the Seagulls with just two strikers ahead of the new campaign after Danny Welbeck moved to Chelsea.
With Brighton competing in both the Premier League and Conference League this season, extra depth is no doubt needed.
However, it remains to be seen if the Seagulls look to bring in any more attacking reinforcements this summer before the transfer window slams shut in a few weeks time.
