Brighton have confirmed they have signed right-back Costinha from Greek side Olympiacos.

Costinha becomes Brighton's second signing of the summer for an £11million fee after the Seagulls announced the addition of Zadok Yohanna earlier in the window.

Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League this season, qualifying for the Europa Conference League.

Whilst looking to add extra depth to his Brighton squad to compete in the Premier League and in Europe, Fabian Hurzeler is sticking by the club's strategy of trying to find greater value in markets often overlooked by their rivals.

The Seagulls have made over £500m in player trading since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

Brighton will hope that Costinha can be there next unearthed gem, and Football Insider has revealed all you need to know about him.

Who is Costinha and what has his career looked like so far?

Costinha is a Portuguese right back who has spent the past two seasons at Olympiacos.

The 26-year-old has never made a senior appearance for the Portuguese national team despite coming through their youth ranks.

Starting his senior career at Rio Ave, Costinha was a right winger, and is now regarded as an attacking full-back.

After four years at Rio Ave, and having won Portugal's second division at the club, Costinha moved to Olympiacos where he has competed against the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona in European competition.

Across seven appearances in the Champions League this season, Costinha won 67.3 per cent of his duels, 72.7 per cent of his aerial duels and successfully completed 80 per cent of his dribbles.

At Olympiacos, Costinha has lifted three trophies including the Greek Super League and Cup.

In other transfer news at Brighton, sources have told Football Insider that Hurzeler has set his sights on signing Tottenham centre back Luka Vuskovic, and is preparing a third bid for the 19-year-old.

What impact could Costinha's arrival have at Brighton?

Costinha's arrival at Brighton could give the club the green light to let Joel Veltman depart the club.

Veltman's contract expires at the end of the month, but the club remain in talks with the 34-year-old over extending his stay on the south coast.

Defensive midfielder Mats Wieffer has been utilised at right back, but Costinha could ensure that the 26-year-old can return to his natural position in the middle of the park.

Costinha gives Hurzeler balance in his back four, and looks to be another smart addition by Brighton.
