Leeds United have been joined by Brighton in the race to sign Blackburn Rovers wonderkid Luke Brennan, Football Insider can reveal.

This site revealed earlier this week that Leeds are keeping tabs on the 18-year-old winger.

A Brighton source has told Football Insider that the club have also been alerted to the immense potential of Brennan.

The teenager is on the wanted list of the duo ahead of the summer window.

He has yet to play for Championship outfit Blackburn’s first team but is a star player in their Under-18s and has also been promoted in recent months to their Under-18s.

He has shot to prominence with his performances for Blackburn in their run to this season’s FA Youth Cup semi-finals.

Brennan scored in their 4-1 demolition of Arsenal and his pace, skill and directness on the left flank has got talent spotters at elite clubs raving.

Leeds have showed during Marcelo Bielsa’s two campaigns in charge there is a real pathway from their academy to their first team.

Brighton have also made impressive strides in that area in recent years and one of the shining lights of their set-up is Ben White.

The centre-back, 22, has been a revelation on loan at Leeds this season but the Seagulls have made clear they are keen to promote him to their first team squad next term.

He has been with the Rovers academy for more than a decade after joining at Under-7s level.

But the former Premier League champions are vulnerable to losing Brennan, especially to clubs in the top flight and operating with more significant budgets.
