Alan Hutton raved about West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell after his performance in the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Premier League right-back shared that he thought Cresswell was underrated when you consider his brilliant delivery of the ball.

Hutton then added that he thought the 29-year-old left-back was unlucky against Palace due to being up against Wilfried Zaha but did state he thought the Hammers flyer did well.

The right-back also pointed out that he thought Cresswell will just be aiming to stay in the team by keeping his form up after dropping in-and-out of the side in recent times.

When asked if Cresswell was underrated, Hutton told Football Insider: “Yeah I think he has been.

“I played against him quite a lot and his delivery is brilliant, I think he brings excellent delivery to the team especially when they play like that, so that’s good.

“He was unlucky yesterday and obviously it’s always going to be a difficult game against Zaha but he done well.

“He’s done well and he’ll probably want to play as many games as possible, so he just needs to keep his form up to keep playing.”

Cresswell played 84 minutes of the Hammers’ loss to Roy Hodgson’s side after limping off and being replaced by Pablo Zabaleta.

The former England international has featured in West Ham’s last three league games after previously being left out of the Hammers squad for the previous four matches.
