Exclusive: Bruce green lights 19/20 exit of Newcastle player signed for £10m in '17

EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke

Steve Bruce has given the green light for Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy to go out on loan in the final days of the window, Football Insider understands.

Murphy spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, helping them reach the Championship play-off semi-finals and scoring two goals in 13 appearances for the club.

A Newcastle source has told Football Insider that Bruce does not regard the 24-year-old as a key part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.

A number of Championship clubs are keen on taking Murphy for the 2019-20 season as they look to take advantage of his new availability.

The arrival of winger Allan Saint-Maximin has pushed Murphy further down the pecking order this summer and the player would consider a loan move away in search of regular first-team football.

He has made 41 senior appearances for Newcastle since arriving from Norwich City for £10m in the summer of 2017.

Capped six times by England at Under-21 level, Murphy is predominantly a right winger but can play in any of the attacking positions behind the main centre-forward.
