'It'll be huge' - Exclusive: Bruce makes big Leeds transfer claim
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will quit Leeds United this summer if they fail to get promoted.
That is according to Alex Bruce, the former Leeds defender speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge about a player he admires greatly.
Phillips, 24, has spearheaded the automatic promotion bid of Marcelo Bielsa’s high flyers but his outstanding form makes United vulnerable to the Premier League elite if they fail to secure a top-two finish.
Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear admitted in the wake of last summer’s transfer window that the club had rebuffed offers of up to £27million for Phillips.
He subsequently signed a new five-year contract, although Football Insider revealed that includes a release clause that can be triggered at the end of this season.
“Yeah, I’d imagine that there’s been a lot of teams looking at him and it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a lot of teams looking to get him out of Leeds,” Bruce told Football Insider.

“I think this year, it’ll be huge. If they don’t go up you’ll see him move.
“He’ll be hoping as a Leeds lad that he can get in the Premier League, and we all
know how big a club Leeds is.
“Leeds United in the Premier League is a good club to be at and I’m sure that’s what he’ll be looking to do.”
Phillips returned to the Leeds side for Saturday’s 4-0 demolition of Hull City after missing the midweek win over Middlesbrough due to injury.
He has made 31 Championship starts among 34 appearances for the club this season and is in contention to win the division’s player of the year award.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club are closing in on £5million signing amid major behind-the-scenes development.
