Exclusive: Bruce makes big Rangers transfer prediction after Gerrard reveal
Alex Bruce has tipped Steven Gerrard to overhaul the Rangers squad this summer after hitting out at the mentality of his team.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Russell Edge, the just-retired footballing son of Steve Bruce is in no doubt the manager is unhappy with the players at his disposal.
Defender Bruce, 35, has spent the last year of his career in the SPL at Kilmarnock and witnessed the Scottish giants at close quarters.
He delivered his verdict on Rangers after Gerrard said he is being “proven wrong” in thinking his squad have the mentality to sustain a Scottish Premiership title push.
“It’s a pretty damning thing to say, isn’t it, on your team if they can’t handle the pressure,” Bruce told Football Insider. “They’re obviously not the right players for him if that is the case, if that’s how he feels and that’s what he has said.
“If they can’t handle the pressure then Stevie will bring in players and put players in the team that are going to be able to handle the pressure.”

Rangers were neck and neck with Celtic when the Scottish clubs emerged from their winter breaks but a wretched run over the last month has seen them slip 12 points behind their bitter rivals.
“These kind of clubs, Rangers, big crowds, big expectations – you have to have not only the ability to play, you have to have a big pair of balls in terms of grabbing it by the scruff of the neck,” Bruce added.
“That’s what Celtic have done by winning the league consistently.
“For Rangers to go and compete consistently, for me looking from the outside, they beat them at Celtic Park and instead of kicking on and going on and grabbing the bull by the horns to win the league, they’ve taken their foot off the pedal. If you do that you’re not going to win a league.”
