Buendia tipped to be axed from Aston Villa XI v Crystal Palace after what pundit's 'heard'
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Steven Gerrard to axe Emiliano Buendia from the Aston Villa starting XI against Crystal Palace.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer suggested Buendia is struggling to live up to the “big fee” Villa paid for him.
The attacker moved to Villa Park from Norwich City for a club-record fee of £33million over the summer.
As revealed by Football Insider back in June, the total cost of the deal was £57million, including fee, add-ons and wages.
The 24-year-old has not lived up to expectations since his move managing just one goal and one assist in 10 Premier League games.
“Buendia is struggling,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“It was a big fee. Again, against Brighton, I heard a few groans from the crowd.
“When you play in that position, you need to make things happen, you need to have an effect on games and he’s not at the moment.
“He’s one whose place is in jeopardy. Especially against Crystal Palace, you need players that are going to track.
“There’s competition for places. Nobody’s place in the side is guaranteed.
“Maybe it’s a game where Buendia is sat on the bench and has to win his place back.”
Buendia has completed 90 minutes in just one of his 10 Premier League appearances for Villa.
The Argentine is under contract with the Midlands giants until the summer of 2026 after signing a five-year deal over the summer.
