Bukayo Saka: Pundit issues 'big' Arsenal contract claim after reliable journalist's 'worrying' update

Kevin Campbell has rubbished suggestions Bukayo Saka will run down his Arsenal contract to get the best deal possible.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Highbury favourite tipped the club to tie the 20-year-old down to a contract representative of his “superstar” status in the Premier League.

Saka‘s current contract at the Emirates runs until the summer of 2024.

Football.London‘s Chris Wheatley fears (22 February) that it “will take some time” to conclude an extension for the England international.

Wheatley is “sure” the player’s agents, who also represent Folarin Balogun, will prolong talks to get their client the best deal possible.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if she shared a similar fear, Campbell said: “That’d be worrying but I don’t see it happening, no way.

“Balogun is a youngster who wasn’t in the first team. Bukayo Saka is in the first team and is carrying the club. He was the player of the year last season. He is in the England squad as well. There is a big difference between the two.

“The negotiations will be very different. Arsenal are not going to mess about with Saka. They are going to do the right thing. They will make sure he gets well paid and rewarded the way he should be.

“He is one of the superstars of the team and the Premier League despite his age. His contract should reflect that and it will.

“I am confident Arsenal will get that bit of business done right.”
