Borussia Monchengladbach are interested in signing Tottenham forward Vincent Janssen this summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claim that the Bundesliga club will offer the 23-year-old an escape route from Spurs after a disappointing first season in England.
It is understood that the German side are searching for a new first-choice striker and have money to spend in the window following the sales of Granit Xhaka and Mahmoud Dahoud in the past 12 months.
Spurs completed a move for Janssen last summer for £17million and he arrived at the club after impressing for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
However, the striker slipped behind both Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son in the pecking order at White Hart Lane last season.
He made 38 appearances across all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, scoring six goals and supplying four assists in return.
The Holland international has been fondly welcomed by the Spurs fans and they have been desperate for him to show his top form, but he is yet to justify his price tag in the Premier League.
Football Insider verdict:
Spurs should turn down any potential approach from Monchengladbach for Janssen this summer as he deserves another year to prove his worth. The north London club did splash out £17million to secure his arrival and he may not have made the desired impact during his first year with the club. However, there were certainly glimpses of a top striker in his performances and his link-up play with his teammates was a major plus point. Janssen just needs to rediscover his form in front of goal again and he could play a bigger role next season. Spurs will be desperate for silverware next year and Janssen could play a part across all competitions by rediscovering his AZ Alkmaar goalscoring form.
In other Tottenham transfer news, they have been installed join favourites alongside Everton to sign a Premier League goal machine.
