Burnley, Watford and Cardiff are stepping up their interest in signing Copa America star Edgardo Farina, sources have told Football Insider.

All three Championship sides have now registered their interest in the Independiente defender as the race for his signature hots up.

Dutch giants Feyenoord are also keen in the giant centre-back after his performances this summer.

Farina, 22, has been outstanding for Panama and has played a vital role in their historic run to the quarter-finals of the Copa America.

His impressive displays have seen him pitted against the likes of Liverpool's Darwin Nunez and USA duo Folarin Balogun and Josh Sargent, helping Panama knock out the hosts.

Farina signed for Independiente in 2021, spending one year with the club before he was loaned out to Universitario and Municipal in consecutive seasons.

Most recently having featured for Municipal in Guatemala, the defender made 27 appearances across all competitions, helping his side to win the league.

Standing at 6ft 4in, his aerial presence is regarded as an important asset for the Championship sides who are looking to improve after disappointing seasons.

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last time out despite a late fight for survival, and will be preparing their squad to bounce back immediately.

Both Watford and Cardiff, meanwhile, finished mid-table last time out and are hopeful that their summer recruitment can inspire stronger seasons.

After his impressive displays at the Copa America so far, Farina is seen as a potential coup for the second-tier sides.
