Leeds academy graduate rated most likely player to join Arsenal - Sky

By London correspondent Tony Hughes

West Ham defender Sam Byram is the most likely player to join Arsenal, according to a report.

Sky Sports’ Football Whispers section claim that the 22-year-old right-back leads the running as a possible summer signing for Arsene Wenger ahead of the new Premier League season.

Byram joined West Ham in the January transfer window for £3.75million as the Londoners took advantage of his contract situation at Leeds, which was due to expire this summer.

The 22-year-old made a sound early impression for Slaven Bilic’s team before injury kept him out for the final months of the 2015-16 season.

Sky Sports’ Football Whispers section, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 3.6 out of 5.0 that Byram will join Arsenal, with 5.0 the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.

The second most likely Arsenal deal is reported to be Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, which has a rating of 2.8.

Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb claim the Gunners are assessing the credentials of the Leeds academy graduate.. Football Whispers rate him at 4.7 to complete a move to Anfield.

It is said that Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a right-back amid fears that Hector Bellerin will be targeted by Barcelona as a replacement for Dani Alves.

The Spanish giants have been strongly linked with a move for Bellerin five years after he left the Camp Nou academy to join Arsenal.

In other Arsenal transfer news, the club have made an enquiry for a £100million-rated Premier League ace.
