Caixinha delivers incredible message to Celtic in 2015, Rangers fans will be furious

By Matt Farr

A incredible video has surfaced online of Pedro Caixinha congratulating Celtic on their title victory in 2015 – and Rangers fans will be furious.

Caixinha, 46, is expected to be named Rangers manager ahead of Sunday’s clash with Celtic, but his previous praise for the Bhoys is not likely to sit well with his potential new fanbase given the immense rivalry between the two clubs and sets of supporters.

The Portuguese boss appeared in a short video posted on the Santos Laguna club Twitter account in 2015, where he issued his “Celtic brothers” a congratulatory message following their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership triumph.

Caixinha was then the manager of the Mexican outfit, who were a feeder club for Celtic at the time in a partnership that began in 2011.

He said: “Hello Celtic brothers. I would like to congratulate you for the fourth win in a row in the Scottish Premier League.

“They just keep coming like that. We keep saluting you and pushing you up. Take care.”

It has also been widely reported that Caixinha was a former scout at Celtic, where he was believed to have headed up the club’s scouting network in Portugal, prior to his assistant manager role with the Saudi Arabia national team in 2009.

He is expected to complete his move to become the new manager at Ibrox on Friday, after agreeing a deal worth £800,000-a-year.

However, he will not arrive in time to take charge of Rangers’ upcoming Old Firm derby clash with Celtic on Sunday.

In other Rangers news, Andy Walker insists the Old Firm rivalry is no more, and delivers a damning assessment of Rangers, as the two Scottish giants prepare to go do battle at Parkhead.
