Calvin Ramsay: Pundit can't believe Leeds United could beat Liverpool to signing after reveal
Alex McLeish has tipped Liverpool to beat Leeds United to the signing of Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay this summer.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 18-year-old would choose to a move to Anfield over Elland Road “all day long”.
A recruitment source told this site last week (28 April) that Leeds United have been granted permission to hold talks with Ramsay as they work on a multi-million-pound deal.
Liverpool are also in the hunt for the teenager as they look for backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
McLeish suggested Ramsay would want to hold out for a possible move to Merseyside.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I would imagine, if I was in that position right now, I want to go to Liverpool.

“Because of the magnitude of the club, because of the lack of any chance of relegation. Even though I’d be an understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold for a couple of years, I’ll get in and out.
“You’ve got a timeframe to develop yourself. Then if you end up cutting it at Liverpool, you’ve almost won the World Cup, haven’t you?
“I would expect a young player to be thinking that. Not thinking: ‘Well, Leeds are on the verge of relegation in the Championship. Maybe I’ll play more games in there.’
“That is a blooming hard league, the Championship. Any team can win on any given day. Even the bottom teams can beat the top teams.
“If Liverpool and Leeds are in for him, I would think he’d, all day long, choose Liverpool.”
Ramsay has played 33 times during what has been a breakthrough season at Pittodrie.
He also has three appearances for Scotland’s under-21s under his belt.
