Campbell 'amazed' by Liverpool after journalist's Harvey Elliott reveal

Kevin Campbell has applauded Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for putting his faith in Fabio Carvalho, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the Reds are right not to sign another centre-midfielder this summer.

The Reds are not expected to enter the market for another midfielder prior to the window shutting.

As revealed by The Athletic‘s James Pearce (2 August), Klopp is banking on Carvalho, Elliott and Jones in the 2022-23 campaign.

Liverpool’s boss is said to want to keep the pathway clear for the three youngsters to develop and progress.

When asked by Football Insider if Klopp has made the right decision, Campbell said: “Liverpool have three very talented players there. Listen, you have to give them a chance.

“It is amazing that they are going to get a chance in the Premier League this season because they are so young.

“You have to remember that before his injury, Harvey Elliott was starting. He was brilliant at the start of last season.

“And then there is Carvalho, he was very impressive for Fulham last year and he’s looked good in pre-season as well.

“These players deserve their opportunities. I think Klopp is making the right choice.”

Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Jones will be unavailable for the clash because of injury.
