Campbell backs Leeds to make 'really clever' O'Brien signing amid agent reveal
Kevin Campbell has urged Leeds United to make a move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the 22-year-old’s signing would be a “really clever bit of business”.
According to The Sun on Sunday (4th July, p. 60), the Whites are racing to sign O’Brien as Marcelo Bielsa looks to add more legs to his midfield.
It is reported that Huddersfield will demand £10million for their prized asset, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract.
However, speaking to LUFC Fanzone shortly after the news broke, O’Brien’s agent Kevin Sharp said he was “unaware of any interest” from Leeds.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said: “He’s a very, very good player.

“I have watched him a fair few times over the past couple of seasons and in my opinion he has been Huddersfield’s best player.
“Leeds like to buy young and develop and O’Brien fits the bill in that respect.
“But he is not someone Marcelo Bielsa will have to revamp. He is someone who can go straight in there and do a job. I think it would be really clever business.”
O’Brien contributed three goals and three assists in 42 Championship appearances last season as the Terriers narrowly avoided relegation.
The Englishman won the Huddersfield’s Player of the Year award on his debut season in 2019-20.
