Campbell: Celtic chiefs will be fuming after latest 'crazy' Griffiths development
Kevin Campbell “is sure” a senior Celtic figure has been in contact with Leigh Griffiths after his Dundee flare-up.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal forward claimed the 31-year-old “has certain demons he needs to control”.
Griffiths kicked a lit flare back into the away crowd during Dundee’s 2-0 home defeat to St Johnstone in the League Cup on 22 September.
BBC Sport reported two days later that the Celtic loanee has been charged with “culpable and reckless” conduct.
Griffiths was named in Dundee’s starting XI for the visit of Rangers last Saturday despite the uproar, only to be forced off with injury after just 39 minutes.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Griffiths’ charge, Campbell said: “I think there is a lot of frustration with Leigh Griffiths.

“He is a very good player but he obviously has certain demons that he needs to control.
“That was crazy from him the other day. You cannot do that. You cannot kick it back into the crowd.
“I’m sure somebody from Celtic has given him a call and said, ‘Cut that out. You’re still representing Celtic. It’s uncalled for.’
“It is not needed and we don’t want to see that kind of behaviour in football.”
Griffiths joined Dundee on a season-long loan deal last month.
The centre-forward has made four appearances across all competitions but is yet to score.
