Campbell hails 'exceptional' Wyke amid major update on Celtic pursuit
Kevin Campbell has backed aerial colossus Charlie Wyke to shine for Celtic next season as the striker nears a move to Parkhead.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton centre-forward claimed the 28-year-old “could have a real impact” in Scotland if he is given the right type of service.
This site revealed earlier today (16 June) that the Hoops are stepping up their pursuit of Sunderland’s talismanic striker this week and are set to offer him a contract.
It is understood that Wyke is “very keen” to head to Parkhead and test himself in the Scottish Premiership.
Wyke’s contract with Sunderland expires at the end of this month so he will be available as a free agent.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Wyke would be a top signing, Campbell said: “Wyke is no Edouard but at the end of the day there is different ways to skin a cat.

“You do not always have to follow the same plan.
“I just think a good player in Wyke could go up there and play with better players and show another level of performance. I think he could have a real impact up there, I do.
“It is a case of watch this space. He has not played at that level but he has shown this season that he is a very good player.
“I think he will score goals, especially if you give him the right kind of service. He’s exceptional in the air.”
Wyke scored 30 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign.
Only Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris scored more in League One.
