Kevin Campbell has claimed Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane is “so underrated” and the “best player at the club”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Everton striker revealed he is a massive admirer of Mohammed Salah and the injured Virgil van Dijk but the Senegal sensation is out on his own.

Mane scored his fifth goal of the season as Liverpool put Atalanta to the sword with an outstanding attacking display in their 5-0 win in Italy on Tuesday night.

Diogo Jota stole the headlines with a brilliant performance and a hat-trick but Mane and his Mohammad Salah continued their impressive starts to the campaign.

Campbell is in no doubt about the effectiveness of the 2016 signing from Southampton and how difficult he is for opponents to play against.

“Salah is a goalscorer, a machine,” the former Everton man told Football Insider. “Van Dijk is arguably the best defender in the world. But I think the best player at the football club is Mane, I really do.

“For all of the goals that Salah scores, the one person who Liverpool would struggle without for a big number of time is Mane.

“He scores an incredible amount of goals as a wide player. Mane is the one that is so underrated. I think a number of teams in Europe will want him.”

Mane has been an integral part of the side that has dominated the Premier League and in Europe in recent years.

In 180 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, the wide forward has scored 86 goals as well as supplied 37 assists.
