Campbell says Morelos is set to leave Rangers 'quickly' after cryptic reveal

Kevin Campbell has claimed the noise surrounding Alfredo Morelos’ Rangers future “doesn’t sound good” and he is likely to leave.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker expects a solution will be reached as soon as the 25-year-old reports back from Colombia.

Morelos missed the opening day win over Livingston and will also miss tonight’s Champions League qualifier against Malmo because of his commitments in the Copa America with Colombia.

Speaking to Sky Sports (23rd July), Steven Gerrard revealed he didn’t know when his star striker would return to Glasgow or where his future lay.

Morelos has since posted a cryptic message on Instagram, with a picture of himself picture ‘shushing’ when celebrating a goal from last season.

When asked by Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs for his assessment of the latest developments, Campbell said:

“None of this sounds good but this type of thing has happened with Morelos previously and nothing has happened.

“Steven Gerrard is just playing it a bit tongue and cheek. It sounds like Morelos agent is talking a lot, or at least one of his representatives is.

“But at the end of the day he is a Rangers player and he is contracted to the club until 2023.

“Obviously he was out at the Copa America so there will be a little delay on him coming back but when he is back I am sure they will resolve things quickly.”
