Campbell shares 'killer' verdict on Kane quitting Tottenham after Man City update
Manchester City may sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Southampton’s Danny Ings to replace Sergio Aguero this summer.
That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton goalscorer Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest in City’s striker pursuit.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already had a £100million bid for Kane rejected by Tottenham in this window.
Football Insider revealed on July 13th that Man City have also registered their interest in Ings after he rebuffed Southampton’s offer of a new deal and a source has updated to reveal they are monitoring his situation.
It is understood the Premier League champions will continue to monitor the English striker’s situation, with less than 12 months to run on his contract at St. Mary’s.
When asked by Football Insider if a move for Ings would see City end their interest in Kane, Campbell said: “Do not believe any of that nonsense.

“It is all smoke and mirrors. Even if Man City got Danny Ings they would need another striker.
“They do not want to go through what they did last season. They had no striker for most of the season.
“You can get through up to a point without a recognised centre-forward but sometimes having an out-and-out goalscorer can be the difference for you. It can kill you not having one. City need a prolific striker.
“Harry Kane is one of the best in the world and Danny Ings is one of the best in the Premier League. In this case, two is better than one.”
