Campbell slams 'appalling' Celtic board after Postecoglou reveal via Sky

Kevin Campbell has claimed the Celtic board have “acted appallingly” over the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker slammed the club for not backing Ange Postecoglou in the transfer market.

Celtic’s season has got off to the worst possible start with losses against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifiers and Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

As quoted by Sky Sports on 29th July, Hoops boss Postecoglou admitted he has not been demanding enough with the board over new signings.

There has been five new arrivals at Parkhead so far in this window, with Japanese winger Kyogo Furuhashi the most expensive of those additions at £4.6million.

Campbell suggested multiple quality new arrivals are needed if Celtic are to rival Rangers this season.

“It is a really tough situation at Celtic,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“I have got to say, I think the club have acted appallingly, to be honest with you.

“When the gauntlet was thrown down by Rangers, this is the response of the football club? It is not right. It is just not right as far as I am concerned.

“Fair enough, take a risk and bring Postecoglou in but you have to then back him. He needs a lot more than he’s been given to bridge the gap.

“This is Celtic football club we are talking about. They need to be making moves. There doesn’t seem to be a sense of direction there at the moment. It is terrible.”
