Campbell tells Arsenal to 'roll the dice' on Lacazette after Sky update
Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to “roll the dice” with Alexandre Lacazette’s contract situation ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton forward said he has “no problem” with the 30-year-old running down his contract and leaving on a free next summer.
Lacazette is into the final 12 months of his current deal at the Emirates.
As reported by Sky Sports‘ Dharmesh Sheth (5th July), there are no talks ongoing or planned over a new agreement.
Football.London‘s Chris Wheatley revealed last week he expects the French striker to run down his contract and leave on a free because of his hefty wages.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Lacazette’s future, Campbell said:

“Arsenal have shot themselves in the foot so many times over player contracts.
“I think this is a unique situation with Lacazette though. If you are not sure about which striker to bring in, you have just got to roll the dice with Lacazette’s contract. They have done it in the past with Aubameyang and it worked out.
“If they are not going to agree on a new deal, it is obviously something that will be addressed next summer.
“Listen, maybe they could get money for him but if he stays he will be integral to how we play next season. He did well all things considered last season.
“I have no problem with him staying and leaving on a free next summer. The Covid situation has made things difficult.”
