Campbell verdict on Celtic signing blizzard after Rangers latest
Kevin Campbell insists Celtic had no choice but to sign 12 new players after such a poor 2020-21 season.
The former Arsenal hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the Hoops added more new faces on deadline day.
Celtic signed 12 players this summer as Ange Postecoglou overhauled a squad that massively disappointed last season.
The Hoops have also started the season strongly and have secured a place in the group stage of the Europa League.
However, they lost last week's Old Firm clash with Rangers despite dominating for large periods and missing several chances.
Campbell insists this massive change was needed at Parkhead after such a dominant 2020-21 from the Gers.
"They have brought Postecoglou in to straighten things up," Campbell told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.
"He needed to change the fortunes because Rangers were so strong.
"Obviously they won the Old Firm by one goal but I think Celtic were alright. Rangers just know how to win now.
"12 players coming in, it will take a while for them to settle but they have to get going.
"You have the break now and they can use that but Celtic really need to get going now. They just couldn't take their chances last week."
The Hoops added Cameron Carter-Vickers to their ranks on a season-long loan from Tottenham on deadline day.
He adds a much-needed versatile option to Postecoglou's squad as the defence continues so make some basic errors.
