'We can get good money' - Everton fans urge club to offload 26-year-old
By Will Butcher
Everton fans have urged their club on Twitter to sell midfielder James McCarthy after a frustrating season at Goodison Park.
McCarthy, 26, has endured a tough season on Merseyside that has seen him remain sidelined for much of the campaign with a string of injuries, including hamstring and groin problems.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Premier League new boys Newcastle are keen to sign the Ireland international in a deal worth £20million this summer.
Toon manager Rafa Benitez has identified the former Wigan ace as a possible summer transfer target, as he looks to bolster his side with proven Premier League talent.
McCarthy joined the Toffees from Lancashire outfit Wigan back in the summer of 2014, but made just 13 appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side this season.

James McCarthy – On his day brilliant but far too many injuries that keep him from playing regularly, we can get good money for him, sell. pic.twitter.com/UMJIHex3nv

Take the money and sell James McCarthy in the summer, his priority is clear not #EFC despite the massive wages he's paid by the club.

Sell him. He's only ever had his own interests at heart. Went hiding under Martinez cos he knew he was safe.
