Exclusive: Paul Robinson destroys West Ham 'Passenger', calls for the axe
Paul Robinson has called on West Ham to axe “passenger” Manuel Lanzini as he’s become a luxury they can’t afford.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs and England shot-stopper says that David Moyes needs individuals who are willing to work the hardest if they are to survive the drop.
The Irons sit 18th in the Premier League table, having let a two-goal lead slip in the 3-3 draw with Brighton.
Lanzini, who had been a mainstay for the Hammers during the first half of the season, only played five minutes against the Seagulls after coming on as a substitute.
Robinson says that West Ham need players who can turn up for the full 90 minutes and that the Argentine does not fit the bill in their fight for survival.
“I don’t think in their position they can afford luxury players, luxury players who flit in and out of games,” Robinson told Football Insider when asked about the 26-year-old.

“David Moyes needs 11 players on the pitch who are willing to work for the shirt, work for him and do everything they can to get a result.
“If players, let’s say luxury players, aren’t performing at the level you expect them (to), you can’t afford to carry passengers.”
Lanzini featured in all but one of the club’s opening 12 Premier League games this season before suffering a shoulder injury which kept him out across November and December.
He had started the last four top-flight fixtures prior to being benched against Brighton, the Hammers losing all four.
In other West Ham news, Robinson was left drooling over a West Ham starlet who “got him out of his seat” this week.
