'The cat is out of the bag' - Redknapp gives his verdict on critical Kane situation at Tottenham

By Russell Edge

Former Liverpool midfelder Jamie Redknapp has said that Tottenham striker Harry Kane should be earning as much as anyone else in the Premier League.

The England forward was on hand to net a double to help secure a 3-2 victory for Spurs away at West Ham on Saturday, and Carragher says he deserves to be among the top earners in the league.

He also states that former Tottenham full back Kyle Walker will be letting his former team mates know his new wage at Manchester City and that such a scenario could cause problems for the North London side.

Redknapp, who now works as a pundit, told Sky Sports: “Whatever the top player in the country is on, he should have parity. It’s as simple as that.

“Everything is there for him at Spurs, they have a great young team but it’s a case of rewarding him. Make it right that he stays at Tottenham.

“I think the cat is out of the bag now.

“Kyle Walker will be telling his mates how much he’s earning at Manchester City and that will be a problem.”

Kane has picked up two successive Premier League Golden Boot awards thanks to his incredible form, which has seen him net 82 Premier League goals for the club.

So far this season the England man has netted four times in the league, with his double against West Ham following another brace against Everton at Goodison Park, while he also scored twice against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Kane is contracted to the North London side until 2022 after signing a contract extension in 2016, but with reports circulating that Spanish giants Real Madrid are keen on securing a transfer for him, his wage demands could prove critical to Spurs retaining their key man.
