A big Premier League club are increasingly convinced Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is the answer to their centre-forward dreams.
That is according to ex-Tottenham, Man City and Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the French 22-year-old.
Celtic face a major battle to hang on to their £9million record signing after his outstanding form in their treble defence and Europa League campaign.
Brown revealed details of a chat he had with a journalist with strong links to a leading Premier League club on the lookout for an elite striker in the next window.
“He (Edouard) has got a huge future,” Brown told Football Insider. “I was speaking to a certain journalist the other day and he was thinking a big club in the Premier League should go and take him.
“Not a big club, a club that used to be really big but that’s just slightly down and they should go and take him right now.
“They’ve had other strikers that they’ve signed and he said to me: ‘They should sign Edouard now. They should spend the dough, go and take him, the club think he’s got a great chance’.”
Edouard has scored 23 goals from 39 matches in all competitions for Celtic this season as well as supplied a remarkable 17 assists.
It has been claimed that it could cost a mammoth £40million fee to prise him from Parkhead in the summer.
