If Celtic could get their hands on Leeds United’s up and coming talented left-back Tom Pearce this summer, it could be one of the bargain moves of the summer.
The 20-year-old is out of contract at Elland Road and after putting on a string of fine displays in the Whites U23s he has recently been promoted to the first-team – and hasn’t looked out of place in the slightest.
After having made just two appearances for Paul Heckingbottom’s men, Pearce has earned rave reviews from supporters who would like to see the defender given more of a starring role in the side.
Despite Leeds’ defeat to Aston Villa on Friday night, the defender kept Robert Snodgrass quiet throughout and even when Villa’s attack doubled up on the inexperienced youngster, he showed his mettle and didn’t falter.
And with Manchester United looking set on reigniting their interest in Kieran Tierney, it could be a position which might be left needing acquisitions should the Scot make the switch to the Premier League.
While the Red Devils would have to splash the cash on Tierney, with Pearce out of contract this summer, Brendan Rodgers could land the full-back on a free transfer and offer the novice an opportunity to play Champions League football.
Of course, it’s all dependant on the Hoops left-back’s whereabouts this summer but should his exit come off, the Leeds youngster would be a perfect fit.
