Celtic will not sign Turkish full-back Hasan Ali Kaldirim from Fenerbahce, according to a report.

Scottish publication The Daily Record claimed last month that the Hoops had sent scouts out to watch the watch the defender, who is rated in the £2million bracket.

Celtic were understood to have been impressed by the defender, who can play in the centre and at wing-back as well as his primary left-back role, after he starred in the Europa League clashes between the two clubs last season.

However, Turkish news website Ahaber claims that 27-year-old Turkey international has elected to stay at his current club, who is in the final year of his contract in Istanbul.

The 26-year-old full-back was a £4million signing for Kayserispor in 2012 and despite being born in Germany he has won 16 caps for Turkey.

Celtic have made a number of signings this summer including Moussa Dembele and Kolo Toure, then most recently Scott Sinclair.

Sinclair arrived from Aston Villa on Sunday morning on a four-year deal, and scored the winner in Celtics league opener against Hearts on the same day.

Rodgers had been desperate to set up a third reunion with the former England under-21 international after working with him at Chelsea and Swansea.
