Celtic Exclusive: Alan Hutton makes Jonny Hayes claim after 'Strange' report
Alan Hutton suggests Celtic winger Jonny Hayes may have a summer move in the pipeline as he heads into the final month of his contract at Parkhead.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Rangers defender admits he is surprised to see the versatile speedster linked with an exit after playing an important squad role this season.
The Scottish Sun report that the 32-year-old is likely to leave Parkhead as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.
Hutton insists that the Republic of Ireland international still has plenty to offer Neil Lennon’s men but suggests there may well be an offer in place for him to move on for next season.
Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s a strange one. He’s got pace, every time that he came in he did well and he is versatile, he can be an attacking threat or when they were playing 3-5-2 he played that wing-back role very well.
“It does surprise me a little bit, I don’t know if there’s maybe more to the story than we know but maybe this is the reason they’re looking at other players, maybe they’re looking towards the future a bit.

“The likes of Jonny Hayes, these are the type of boys you can trust and rely on to maybe not play every game but when they do come in they give you 110 per cent and that’s what he’s done.
“Maybe there’s something on the cards, maybe he’s got a move ready and waiting that appeals to him more so we’ll see in the upcoming window.”
Hayes played 26 times across all competitions for Celtic this season, with only five of those appearances coming as league starts.
He has a total of 68 games under his belt for the Bhoys, operating as both a left-back and a left-winger.
In other Celtic news, Noel Whelan has been left bouncing by a deal that is two-in-one.
