Celtic expert predicts when Jota will sign after social media development

Jota will sign for Celtic on a permanent basis once he returns from his holiday.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

As reported by the Daily Record (4 June), Celtic are locked in talks with Jota over personal terms as they look to sign him permanently from Benfica.

The Hoops have reportedly agreed a £6.4million transfer fee with the Portuguese giants after the attacker dazzled during the 2021-22 season.

Celtic have already completed the permanent signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers following his loan spell at the club during the 2021-22 season.

McAvennie is hoping Jota will follow suit once he returns from his post-season holiday.

“There is a lot of speculation about Jota,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If you look on social media the boy is all over the place, he’s away on holiday.

“I’m just hoping he has said he will sign it when he comes back.

“I think that is what it will come down to. I really want him to sing because he really is a talent.

“Hopefully he is just away and he has told Ange he will sign when he comes back.”

Jota scored 13 goals and contributed 14 assists in 40 appearances for the Bhoys during the 2021/22 campaign.

He has made 27 senior appearances for Benfica but has failed to score.
