Celtic expert verdict on Cameron Carter-Vickers quitting for Premier League club -- 'he's had his time'

Frank McAvennie

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie has insisted Cameron Carter-Vickers won't quit Celtic in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said he also anticipates interest in Reo Hatate in the summer window alongside Carter-Vickers.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking to House of Champions (27 February), Premier League clubs are exploring the possibility of signing the centre-back at the end of the season but insisted the Celts will do their best to keep players.

Carter-Vickers, 25, joined Parkhead from Tottenham on loan in 2021 which was made permanent in the summer.

The USA international made just five appearances for the first team during his time in London.

His current contract at Parkhead runs until 2026 and McAvennie doesn't think that will change any time soon.

"He is not going anywhere," he told Football Insider.

"I think he is enjoying himself. He has had his time down there. He will have learned so much at Celtic and I think if he goes back down he will be a better player.

"If I was a team I would want Hatate. There are some quality players in the Celtic team at the moment. It is good that the players and the manager are getting touted everywhere it means that you are doing your job.

"That is all it does mean. Until somebody comes in with the hard cash then we will not know."
