Celtic face ‘five-point deduction’ as SPFL open multiple disciplinary investigations – ex-PGMOL chief

Celtic could face a points deduction after the SPFL opened disciplinary investigations into multiple clashes, including the title-decider against Hearts.

This is according to ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett, who believes that a substantial fine or a match behind closed doors could also be a potential outcome if they are found guilty.

The authorities are looking at alleged rule breaches relating to pitch invasions and pyrotechnics, with the Hoops’ victory over Motherwell also being looked at.

Celtic’s 3-1 victory over Hearts has generated plenty of controversy due to the late pitch invasion from the home supporters, with many arguing that the referee should not have ended the game early.

However, while the SFA released a statement on Thursday backing Don Robertson’s decision to call the match, Celtic could still face punishment.

Celtic just pipped Hearts to the title

Celtic fans have entered the pitch multiple times this season, including their penalty victory over Rangers in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Now, for their actions in their final two fixtures against Motherwell and Hearts, Hackett exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic could be deducted five points if they are found guilty.

When asked about the potential punishment Celtic could face, he said: “The outcome could be a match played behind closed doors, or a five-point match deduction, plus a substantial fine.”

Keith Wyness insists Celtic fans must be punished

Former Aberdeen chief executive, exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic need to be punished for their fans invading the pitch.

Wyness was left unimpressed after the home supporters stormed onto the pitch during and after their title decider against Hearts, and believes that there is an arrogance within the Celtic support that needs to be put to an end.

After the game, the police also had to deal with trouble in Glasgow city centre as fans celebrated their title win.

However, it remains to be seen if Celtic will be found guilty in these current investigations and if they will face a substantial punishment, such as a points deduction.
