Report: Top-flight giants jet in on Hampden transfer mission and make Celtic flyer no.1 target
Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has been named as Manchester United’s number one target this summer after it emerged scouts have been deployed to watch the 20-year-old against Rangers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday, according to reports.
The Scottish Sun reveal that Jose Mourinho is set to ditch Luke Shaw after the former Southampton ace has failed to win over his manager with continual injury problems and question marks over his fitness.
While the Daily Mail states that United scouts have recommended the star to the Red Devils boss and they will now watch the Old Firm clash.
Mourinho was due to watch the defender during Scotland’s friendly against Costa Rica but Tierney pulled out of the squad.
The left-sided flyer only put pen to paper on a new deal at Parkhead last October until 2023 and having come through the ranks at Celtic, he is very much a favourite amongst supporters.

Contracts mean very little these days and if the Portuguese manager is spotted in the stands at Celtic Park we can see the Hoops ace bidding farewell to life north of the border and going the same way as Andrew Robertson. Tierney is likely to see how well the 24-year-old is getting on at Liverpool and see that he too can fare similarly at Old Trafford. It will be a huge disappointment for Hoops supporters though – but they will reap the rewards financially as they are likely to heavily compensated for their loss. It will leave the Bhoys short in the left-back spot so replacements will be necessary.
