Celtic fans react hilariously on Twitter as Warburton joins Nottingham Forest

By Will Butcher

Celtic fans have reacted in amusing fashion on Twitter after former Rangers boss Mark Warburton was appointed the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

Waburton, 54, was named as the new manager at the City Ground on Tuesday morning, replacing Gary Brazil in the dugout as Forest look to steer away from a relegation dogfight.

Nottingham Forest announced Warburton’s arrival on their official website, as he and assistant manager David Weir sign two-and-a-half-year deals with the two-time European Cup champions.

The former Brentford boss had been out of work for just over a month after controversially leaving Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers back in February.

It remains unclear if Londoner Warburton was sacked by the Gers, or he himself resigned along with Weir and head of recruitment Frank McParland.

Celtic fans reacted hilariously to the news that Warburton had been given the job at Championship outfit Forest, using it as a source to poke fun at Rangers fans while some sent their sympathies to Forest.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Taking control of Rangers in three Old Firm derbies this season, Warburton suffered three defeats including a 5-1 hammering at Celtic Park back in September.

Failing to mastermind a title challenge against Celtic, the Gers sit 33 points behind their Old Firm rivals in third place and have a fight on their hands to surpass Aberdeen into second.
