Celtic fans react on Twitter to Rangers defeat against Motherwell

By Danny Wright

Celtic fans took to Twitter on Sunday to poke fun at Rangers after they were dumped out of the Scottish League Cup semi-final by Motherwell.

Stephen Robinson’s side earned a 2-0 win against the Gers thanks to a brilliant brace from star striker Louis Moult in a game that was shrouded in controversy revolving around some of the referee’s decisions.

Rangers missed the chance to play against their bitter rivals Celtic in the semi-final, as well as blowing the opportunity to win three games in a row for the first time since Pedro Caixinha took charge at Ibrox in March.

Although Celtic fans were deprived of the chance of compiling more Glasgow derby humiliation on their bitter rivals in the final next month, they seemed happy enough about their loss to Motherwell on Twitter.

Hoops supporters bombarded the Rangers official Twitter account after the full-time score was announced as they took the opportunity to rub their rivals’ noses in what was a very poor performance.

Celtic and Rangers both return to Premiership action in midweek, with the Hoops facing a tough clash with Aberdeen at Pittodrie to contend with as they look to extend their unbeaten domestic run to 61 games.

Rangers face Kilmarnock at Ibrox and know that they will be able to close the gap one of the top two sides, who are currently level on points at the top of the table.
