'We're gonna be in Europe after Christmas' - Celtic fans react on Twitter to Champions League draw

By Harvey Byrne

Celtic fans are not confident on Twitter after being drawn against Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht in Thursday evening’s Champions League group stage draw.

The Hoops were included in the draw after defeating Kazakhstan-based side FC Atana 8-4 on aggregate on Tuesday evening.

They were read out in pot four, which has pitted them against German giants Bayern Munich, cash-rich French side Paris Saint-Germain and Belgian outfit Anderlecht.

Some believed that third place was now achievable, which would see them drop down to the Europa League at the end of their group fixtures, but many agreed that it would be a difficult task for the club.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Last season Celtic were drawn against Euro giants Barcelona alongside cash-rich Manchester City and German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

They held City to a draw twice alongside a stalemate against Monchengladbach, but their other three matches brought defeats, including a heavy 7-0 loss against Barcelona, leaving them bottom of the group without a single victory.

They will certainly be hoping for better this time around and Rodgers’ side will be hoping to progress past the group stage for the first time since 2013 when they done so under Neil Lennon.

In other Celtic news, John Hartson named who he wanted the Hoops to draw prior to the group stage draw.
