Celtic star Nicolas Kuhn has attracted interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window, causing a "huge problem" for the club.

This is according to former Man United chief scout and Sir Alex Ferguson number two Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic could be put in a difficult position.

Scottish sides, including the Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers, cannot compete financially with English clubs and are at risk of losing their best players.

Matt O'Riley's £25million move to Brighton in the summer is the latest example of this, given the relative size difference between Celtic and the Seagulls.

However, given their position in the Premier League, they have the financial muscle to draw key players away from Parkhead.

Brown has warned a similar situation could take place once more, and expressed concern for Celtic and Rangers' ability to keep their top players in the SPFL.

Celtic face 'huge problem' with Nicolas Kuhn amid Premier League interest

Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in player recruitment at the top level, has insisted that Premier League clubs are always looking for the best talent in Scotland.

"It's a huge problem they face in Scotland," he told Football Insider.

"Whenever they get players who are making an impact at that level, there are clubs down south who will be taking notice and possibly making a move.

"Most Premier League sides have scouts in Scotland all the time looking for the best talent.

"And with the financial power they have, more often than not, they're able to draw them away.

"We've seen the same thing before, Matt O'Riley moved to Brighton in the summer.

Celtic

"Brighton, and teams like Fulham and Brentford, aren't as big as Celtic are, but the Scottish clubs just cannot compete financially.

"That makes keeping hold of their best players difficult when Premier League sides come calling."
